Tricky to fit due to stay in place mechanism, a bit fiddly, must use a 13mm spanner or two to break the new ‘stay still’ bolt, but worth it. Soft closure works very well. Worth the extra money & effort.

We purchased one under a year ago and all seems. We purchased one under a year ago and all seems well. The seat is solid and quiet in operation. So we purchased a second in june. I have just started to notice the chrome finish on the newer of the two is beginning to blister ever so slightly. We don’t use strong chemicals etc and suspect it to be a manufacturers fault. The problem is getting a warranty repair even though its 5 months old. Here are the specifications for the Bemis Memphis STAY TIGHT Toilet Seat Slow Close:
- Stays Tight with STA-TITE – patented fixing system that WILL NOT LOOSEN! Simple, “no mess” installation ensures your seat STAYS TIGHT on the ceramic
- Silentium SLOW CLOSE – Seat does not slam
- ADJUSTABLE metal hinges
- ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY – made from responsibly sourced woods and water based paint. LUXURY look and feel. This seat is proudly manufactured in USA and assembled in GREAT BRITAIN.
- Fits MAJORITY of manufacturers universal shaped ceramics
Lid stays up but rim doesn’t after a while. . Lid stays up but rim doesn’t after a while. Ok if you’re a woman, but as a man it can make the process a little tricky. Might just need to re-tighten the nuts (on the toilet seat that is).
