This toilet seat is great, my husband can ‘dump to his heart’s content’. He says it took 5 minutes to install, easy to align and even more fun to use. The hinge mechanism is much better, made of rubbery plastic, and plastic locking nut that compresses when tightened. Thanks to this, i expect the grip to be good, so he wont fall off the toilet anymore. I’m not sure what the quick release is for, maybe like a quick release bicycle seat in case someone tried to steal the toilet?.

Fitted perfectly at less than half the price u paid for the last one from a stockists. Here are the specifications for the Rak Ceramics RAKSEAT001 Series 600 Soft Close Seat:

• Series 600 is suitable for a small bathroom

However it is not quick release. My existing, and broken, rak toilet seat was quick release and had the ‘pegs’ for lack of a better word on the actual seat which went into the holes on the unit. However this unit is the other way round, with the ‘pegs’ on the fitting attached to the toilet and the holes on the toilet seat. This then meant an extremely fiddly removal of all the existing fittings, which had rusted a little and swelled and were very difficult to remove. Eventually we were able to do this and then fitting of the unit was relatively painless. Those with a broken rak toilet seat will hopefully understand this and it might help you choose. Maybe rak have just changed all their fittings and the easy release model i used to have is no longer in production, i don’t know. Anyway it turned what would have been a 2 minute job into something that took about an hour. It’s done though nowdelivery was next day as asked for, although late in the evening. Overall happy now the job is done.

Extremely pleased with this toilet seat, fitting took a while to align seat to the bowl but once done working very well. This was not the correct make for our compact toilet but works much better than the old one which was always moving about and the soft closure only worked on the seat. It is great to have one that now stays in one place and the soft closure is so smooth and quiet. I know it is strange to rave about a toilet seat but when we can finally sit down without the seat moving around it is such a pleasure.
